Todays YouTube video

I wanted to show the whole process of this technique without any edits so this series of videos are slightly longer. I have made an edit to allow the paint to dry before I begin to work with the charcoal and pencils.

It's a good exercise to get creative and try not to worry too much about the end result. Hopefully it will inspire you to just start making marks.

Acrylic paint, conte pencils and charcoal on mixedmedia paper. 290gsm. Filmed live with no edits (only to allow the paint to dry)

Work in progress

Filming the new YouTube video this morning. Acrylic paint, charcoal and conte pencils on paper. Spray with a fixative to prevent smudges.

This weeks series of videos are slightly longer and they are edited to allow for the paint to dry. Trying to get into the regular routine of posting a daily video and each week trying a different technique.

New video

Work in progress. Deciding on this weeks new series of videos. I've had this poster of 9 of my small sketches on the ceiling of my studio for a few years (from the SPRING shop) I'm going to reproduce some for the videos. Thought some colour was needed on a dull, wet, miserable and cold day.

Todays video is the last of this series of monochrome monoprints but I will be filming more in the future as I know that this is technique has been popular. Thanks to all your positive comments, I appreciate the feedback and it’s always good to know that they inspire you with your own creativity. Tomorrow I begin another week long series exploring colours with acrylic and charcoal sketches.

New video

I really enjoy working on this series of short unedited videos, it allows me to be much more natural and try as much as possible to show the creative process. This morning I decided not to plan anything, I simply set everything up and turned the camera on. Hope it inspires you. Just one more in this series before I begin to film another technique but I will return to these in the future.

Todays YouTube video

Todays monochrome monoprint was inspired by the frozen pond this morning and the fractured ice floating on the surface. Used scissors and card to form sharp edged fragments. Hopefully this will inspire you.

Thanks for all your kind comments about the recent series of videos, I will try to reply as soon as I can but it is very much appreciated.

On Thursday I will start a new series of videos exploring colour with acrylic paint and charcoal..
